MY STORY

I AM A MOTHER, WIFE, ARTIST AND PHOTOGRAPHER

I’m a Colorado native born and raised in Durango. Every day I feel super lucky and fortunate to live and play in such a beautiful mountain state. Opportunities to visit epic locations, photograph amazing people and products, and build lifelong friendships.

Rewind back to 2002 is when I moved from my hometown of Durango to Denver to attend college at the Art Institute of Colorado. It’s where I received my BA in Interactive Media Design and AAS in Photography. The Mile High City was my home for over ten years – as a creative person I’m still in love with the art & music scene the city has to offer. During my time in the city I lived in numerous apartments in Capitol Hill and in one of those buildings is where I met my soulmate and future husband IZ. Although at the time I didn’t know it because it took us another three years of random met ups for me to realize how much I liked/loved him.

After college I worked at an Apple retail store where I met my best friend Elisha – she is the most modestly brilliant photographers I have ever met. She changed my life when she brought me to work for Craftsy (later known as Bluprint) as one of their photographers in 2014. It was truly a dream job for me! Not only did I have the luxury to hone my craft every day, but I also had the opportunity to work with a multitude of creative and talented people. It was bittersweet ending when the company had to close its doors this year. Bitter in the way it happened and sweet in all the wonderful memories I’ll always have.

Becoming a mother changed my passion for photography. I would’ve never pursed the idea of being a lifestyle family photographer if I didn’t have children of my own. Thanks to my wildly supportive husband who always wanted a big family and believes in my artistic abilities, I’ve slowly lifted my own photography business off the ground. I chose lifestyle (authentically posed) for my portrait photography style because it’s the perfect fusion of traditional (classically posed) and documentary (photojournalistic/unposed) photography. The perfectionist in me loves to lightly guide and pose families in gorgeous natural light, while the mother in me loves to capture raw moments of love that exist within a family. There is no greater honor than when a family trusts me to document their love into artistic imagery.

Presently I’m living in Longmont with my hilarious husband who always makes me laugh and our four beautifully hyperactive children – we were super lucky to have two of each. Life for us is in constant motion. Every morning I wake up exhaustedly happy because I get to spend another day with my tribe.
